We sponsor informative and neighbor friendly gatherings that are educational events for the community. The topics of these events range from nuts and bolts sessions for historic home owners with experts on painting, plastering, and gardening, to fun events, like the our wine tasting at the City of Tustin’s Art Walk in late October. During the Art Walk we offer free bus tours to show off Old Town, its history and its architectural heritage to visitors. Check our Events page for the date of this years Art Walk and wine tasting.
The Conservancy provides monetary support to the City’s Tustin’s Historic Registry plaque program. The Planning Commission, acting as the Historic Resource Commission, specifies historic homes eligible to display a specially designed plaque indicating the year the structure was built and the historic name of the building. The Conservancy is proud to have provided funding for many of these plaques.
The Tustin Preservation Conservancy advocates for programs that strengthen preservation. We support the City of Tustin maintaining its Certified Local Government status. We support the Historic Overlay District. We support all effort to maintain and preserve historic buildings in the Tustin area. We monitor political issues that could negatively affect the historic district.
Revitalization is happening on every street: We facilitate that by getting homeowners together to share what they have learned from their experiences. For those planning to start renovations, we offer a variety of workshops designed to assist in this process. An additional goal is to get more of our historic homes and structures listed on the National Register.
