Old Town Tustin Art Walk 2017

Posted on Sep 22, 2017 in Events, News

On Saturday, October 21, 2017, the City of Tustin will hold its 10th Annual Art Walk in Old Tustin from 12:00 to 5:30 pm. The sidewalks of Old Town will feature art displays, Plein Air art contest, chalk drawing contest, live music, bus tours of Old Town Tustin’s architectural highlights (with a little 19th century gossip thrown in for good measure).

And of course, we again offer a festive wine tasting event hosted by the Tustin Preservation Conservancy. While the Art Walk begins at noon, the Wine Tasting Event will kick off a bit later at 1 o’clock pm. We will offer plenty of cooling shade and wonderful tastes of wine in our Wine Tasting tent.

Find us located in the Waterworks parking lot at the corner of Main Street and Prospect. A hearty thank you in advance to Young’s Market, for their generous work to donate and coordinate a diverse and delicious set of wines for our enjoyment. The Conservancy offers 5 tastes of exceptional wines for ten dollars ($10). Look for our sign on Main Street. Join us for this event as well as the bus tours of historic Old Town Tustin. We hope to see you at the Art Walk!

Advisory: Mosquito control application by aircraft announced in Orange County

Posted on Sep 8, 2015 in Events, News

OC Mosquito and Vector ControlDear Residents:

The Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District (district) will be conducting aerial applications to reduce adult mosquitoes and suppress the spread of West Nile Virus over the cities of Orange, Tustin, Villa Park and portions of Anaheim, Fountain Valley, Garden Grove, Santa Ana and Stanton. The applications will take place between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9, and Thursday, September 10, 2015 (weather permitting).

The treatment will be made using Duet, a mosquito control product registered for use by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and routinely used throughout the United States to help control adult mosquito populations. Prior to registering a product, the EPA evaluates products thoroughly to be sure there is a “reasonable certainty of no harm” to humans, animals and the environment from their use. Duet is applied in very low dosages—roughly a tablespoon to treat an area the size of a football field—and dissipates quickly.

There is no need to stay indoors, cover outdoor pet food or replace outdoor water in bowls, ponds and water features, though residents certainly are free to do so. There also is no requirement to cover cars or wash down outdoor play equipment. However, the insecticide is toxic to other insects so beekeepers and those with insects kept outdoors are encouraged to shelter hives and habitats during spraying operations.

“Protecting the residents of Orange County from mosquitoes and West Nile virus is our top priority, and this application is being made to reduce the number of infected mosquitoes that pose this threat,” said Michael Hearst, District Manager.

For exact spraying locations, please visit the interactive map on our website at

Residents concerned about the application or needing more information are invited to call the district’s Aerial Application Hotline at 714-971-2421 EX. 395.

OCMVCD is aware of public concerns and has dedicated a page regarding West Nile virus on our website (, as well as a Frequently Asked Questions page ( regarding the application and other considerations.

The District may postpone or cancel the scheduled treatment due to unfavorable weather conditions or other factors.

For more information, please contact the Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District at (714) 971-2421 or (949) 654-2421, or visit
