Spring Update From The Conservancy

It's been a long couple years, but as we reach the tail end of the pandemic, the Tustin Preservation Conservancy is looking forward to 2022 with renewed energy in support of the buildings and places that make Tustin great. As we make plans for the year, below are a couple updates on what we've been up to so far.

Check out our new logo!

NEW LOGO
As you can see above, the Conservancy has a brand new logo! In 2021 it was decided to update the logo for the first time since the our inception. After finding a talented designer, we discussed all the options but decided to stick with Tustin's most recognizable feature, the iconic spire on the Stephen's house. The new logo was first unveiled at our Wine Tasting booth at the 2021 ArtWalk in October and hope it will serve us well for years to come.Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.

NEW OFFICERS
At the beginning of the year the board also elected new officers to oversee the Conservancy through 2022.

  • President - Mark Wilcken

  • Vice President - RJ Schwichtenberg

  • Treasurer - Lillyan Foley

  • Secretary - Brian Sjoberg

  • Board Member - Melissa Figge

NEW BOARD MEMBER
TPC is happy to announce the addition of our new board member, Phil Rahn. Here's a short message from Phil to introduce himself and discuss his interest in historic preservation:

Hello Tustin!

My fiancé and I bought our Old Town home 1 year ago, but we have lived here for the past 5 years. I was born and raised in Long Beach, but have worked for Disney for the past 30+ years and went to college at Cal State Fullerton, so Orange County has always felt like home. I spent some time living in Hawaii and China for work, before settling in Tustin in 2017. In my professional life, I'm tasked with leading the teams that care for and maintain the many historic buildings and decorative elements across the Disneyland Resort. My passion to protect and care for our past is one that I also carry into my personal life. I’m a proud Californian who loves learning about our state’s history and is curious to discover all of the sites that make California great. Tustin's buildings, trees, and public areas provide us a glimpse into our past and help us understand where we came from and how we got here. These elements are integral to our identity as a city and I’m passionate about preserving them so that future generations have the opportunity to learn about Tustin’s place in California history.
- Phil Rahn
